Lauren's Story
Competitive edge
I grew up in the small town of Provost, Alberta as a multisport athlete who was constantly travelling. Coming from a small town I was often faced with the fear I wouldn’t go anywhere with volleyball due to a lack of opportunity. However, the mentors I had along my volleyball journey are the reason I pushed to reach my goals of becoming a post secondary athlete. I’m also a very competitive person no matter the activity- board games included. Throughout school I would challenge myself and I truly believe that is what allowed to me excel in my sport. If there was an obstacle in the way, I would find a way around it. I wasn’t allowing my dream to be limited so I would travel with my parents many hours just to get personal training sessions and to be apart of a high level club. Through my high school years of volleyball, I had the opportunity to play for Zone 7 Alberta Winter games team, St. Paul Rage, Camrose Vikings, East Alberta Volleyball Club, and Team Alberta U16/17. My graduating year, I signed with The King’s University Volleyball team out of Edmonton, Alberta.
